WakeUp Carolina is proud to announce the expansion of its grief support group, Living With Loss, to an additional location. This group will begin meeting on Thursday, August 22, at WakeUp Carolina’s Berkeley location in Moncks Corner, SC. This time is specifically designed for individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one due to substance use, or a substance-related death.

Who Should Attend?

This group is open to individuals aged 18 and above, including:

  • Parents who have lost a child
  • Siblings (18+) who have lost a sibling
  • Individuals who have lost a spouse/partner
  • Individuals who have lost a friend

Who Leads the Group?

Recognizing the sensitive nature of grief, the group will be facilitated by Teddy Stockwell, LPC, an experienced licensed professional counselor. Teddy brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to guide participants through their grief journey.

Why Attend?

This group offers a unique opportunity to find encouragement and receive support from peers who have experienced similar losses. It is a safe space where individuals can connect with others who truly understand the complexities of grieving a loss due to substance use.

What to Expect?

Participants can expect a supportive community where they can openly share their experiences and feelings. Each session includes education on various topics related to grief, loss, and recovery, followed by a peer support group facilitated by the licensed therapist.

  • When: Starting August 22, every other Thursday at 6:00 PM
  • Where: 325 E. Main Street, Moncks Corner, SC

In addition to this new group, the original support group continues to meet:

  • When: Tuesdays at 6:00 PM
  • Where: 217 Lucas St., Suite G, Mt. Pleasant, SC
