Join us for the Annual “Light the Way for Hope” Luminary in honor of Overdose Awareness Day 2026—a powerful evening of remembrance, connection, and community healing.
This year, we will host two gatherings, each offering:
- Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training
- A moving “Light the Way for Hope” Luminary Ceremony
We welcome you to attend one or both events as we come together to honor all loved ones lost to overdose from any substance. Together, we keep their memories alive with light and love.
We invite you to submit names, photos, and brief messages in memory of your loved ones.
These tributes will be included in:
- A touching memorial slideshow
- Heartfelt social media tributes
- Luminary bags that light the path of hope
Together, we remember.
Together, we raise awareness.
Together, we support one another with compassion and understanding.
Submission periods are listed by location below. The window for our 2027 events opens on Tuesday, September 1st.
Charleston Co. – Mt. Pleasant, SC

This gathering will begin with an Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training session, where free Narcan kits will be distributed, followed by the Light the Way for Hope luminary ceremony.

This ceremony is brought to you in partnership with WakeUp Carolina, the Mount Pleasant Police Department, The Charleston Center, and the Town of Mount Pleasant.
Berkeley Co. – Moncks Corner, SC
Monday, August 31, 2026
This gathering will feature community partners in attendance, rapid Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training available throughout the evening, provide free Narcan kits, and a meaningful Light the Way for Hope luminary ceremony.

This ceremony is brought to you in partnership with WakeUp Carolina, the Town of Moncks Corner & Berkeley Co. Government, the Kennedy Center, and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Honor Your Loved One(s)
We invite you to submit heartfelt tributes to honor those we have lost to overdose from any substance. Please complete the contact form to share the required information.
Important CUTOFF DATES:
- Social Media Tributes: Submit by Thursday, July 29 at 8:00 AM, to have your loved one honored in a social media post. Submissions after 7/29/27 will be saved for the 2028 social media tributes.
- Memorial Slideshow: Submit by Wednesday, August 18 at 8:00 AM, to include your loved one in the slideshow presentation. Submissions after 8/18/27 will be saved for the 2028 event.
- Moncks Corner Luminary Bags: Submit by Monday, August 23, at 8:00 AM to have your loved one’s name featured on a luminary bag. If you miss the cutoff, you may still attend the event and write their name on a bag in person.
- Mount Pleasant Luminary Bags: Submit by Thursday, August 19, at 8:00 AM to have your loved one’s name featured on a luminary bag. If you miss the cutoff, please attend the event and write their name on a bag in person.
